Anthony Waterkeyn (England)

Has lived for a large part of his life in Africa (Zimbabwe, Tanzania, South Africa, Kenya and Uganda).

He holds a Master’s Degree in Tropical Public Health Engineering and has worked for most of his professional career on rural water supply and sanitation programmes. After spending 11 years working for WaterAid he went on to establish the Mvuramanzi Trust, a Zimbabwean NGO which has carried out pioneering work in implementing wide-scale, low-cost rural water supply and sanitation projects.

In the late 1990s he started yet another NGO, Zimbabwe AHEAD, which has undertaken equally innovative work in promoting household hygiene (through positive behavior change) towards sustainable livelihoods in poor rural communities of Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone.

Recently, Anthony has been working for the World BankBank’s Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) on Uganda’s national Sanitation program.
